Submission declined on 9 May 2025 by Cambalachero (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of web content). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). Comment: This page is nowhere near being ready to be an article. First, it needs some copyedit: it uses {{main}} on top of the article (that template is meant for sections), and the last paragraph adds several references in list format, forcing an unexpected break in the sentence. Then, the name: it calls it a "conspiracy theory" and then a meme, which are mutually exclusive things (a meme is a joke about the coincidence, a conspiracy theory actually means it). I tagged with cn two sentence with claims that have no references (the Washingtonian may be the reference for the last one, but it isn't: it is only the opinion of the author, who makes no claims that his opinion is widely shared or not). Hindustan Times only mentions the meme in the article title but not in the body, which is only about Vance meeting with the Pope. New Jersey Today is the only one that makes a serious claim, but perhaps it should be removed. It has Wordpress logo and I couldn't find any reference to a "New Jersey Today" newspaper in Google, other than false positives; it's likely to be just a blog (and we would need much more than that to suggest that a BLP committed a crime). And there's no mention of the usage or reception of the meme, to explain why it is a notable meme and not just a meme about ongoing news that will die in a couple of days if it hadn't already. That's it has the "Notability" tag, which has not been removed, nor the problems fixed since it was added. Cambalachero (talk) 17:33, 9 May 2025 (UTC)

The JD Vance papal death conspiracy theory is an Internet meme that arose on the Internet shortly after the death of Pope Francis, asserting that the Pope died as a result of his meeting with US Vice President JD Vance, who had met with Francis hours before his death. Theories have been put forth with various degrees of sincerity variously asserting the meeting with Vance stressed or strained the Pope to the point of hastening his death, or that Vance outright assassinated the Pontiff.
On 20 April, a day before the Pope's death and coinciding with Easter Sunday, Francis delegated the traditional Easter Mass to Cardinal Angelo Comastri, but made a surprise public appearance to bless audiences at Saint Peter's Square,[1] shortly after having met with Vance[2][3] to exchange Easter greetings.[4][5]
The theory drew comparisons to the film, The Interview, which portrayed celebrities assassinating Korean dictator Kim Jong Un via a poisoned handshake.[citation needed]
Jack Schlossberg and Ann Coulter later took jives at Vance. Schlossberg posted a speculative video to Instagram asking "WHAT DID JD DO ? [sic]", and Ann Coulter posted a tweet saying "Good work, JD".[6]
Coulter tweeted, "Good work, JD," which Trump advisor Laura Loomer replied to with a skull emoji [7][unreliable source?] [8]
