Comment: He doesn't seem like a popular musician. There are only a few sources for reliable, popular newspapers. There may also be a problem in neutrality in the text.

[1] He performs under the name Igwe1 Fuji, a title adopted in recognition of his role within the genre.."[2][3][4]
Early life
[edit]Aluko was born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria, where he attended Agojaiya Primary School in Ebute Meta. From an early age, he exhibited a deep passion for music, often entertaining his classmates by creating rhythms using tables and chairs during school hours. His father hails from Ilesha, Osun State, while his mother is from Abeokuta, Ogun State Despite this, Aluko identifies primarily as a Lagosian, having been born and raised in the city. He comes from a Christian family, which has influenced his upbringing and worldview.[2]
This blend of cultural backgrounds, along with his exposure to music from a young age, has played a significant role in shaping his artistic journey and personal identity. Growing up in Lagos, a city known for its vibrant music scene, further reinforced his connection to music, making it an integral part of his life and expression.[2][3]
Musical career
[edit]Aluko's passion for music continued to develop as he grew older. By the age of 15, he began performing professionally, marking the beginning of his musical career. These early performances laid the groundwork for his future success in the music industry.[5]
He made his debut in 1995 with the album Celebration, released under Oregun Records. The album's success marked the beginning of his influential career in the Fuji genre. Over the years, Aluko has released several albums, including Goodnews (1999), The Child (2000), and Ajela (2003/2004), showcasing his ability to blend traditional Yoruba music with modern elements, appealing to a wide range of listeners.[6]
Beyond his albums and recordings, he places a strong emphasis on stage plays and live concerts,[7][8] he consistently captivates his audience with powerful vocals and engaging rhythmic beats. His performances are further elevated by his signature dance style a dynamic fusion of traditional alujo/Fuji dance and contemporary, self-modified disco movements[9] which adds a unique and compelling element to his stage presence.[10][11]
In addition to his solo work, Aluko has collaborated with notable Nigerian artists such as Wasiu Alabi Pasuma, Portable, Saheed Osupa, KS1 Malaika, Dagrin, and Oritse Femi and many others,[12][13] further solidifying his presence in the music industry. His versatility and innovative contributions have earned him recognition as a key figure in the evolution of Fuji music.[6][11][14] [15] [16]
In recent years he began advocating for Fuji musicians to embrace online streaming and digital marketing, emphasized the important of adapting to digital era to reach a broader audience and remain relevant in the competitive music landscape.[17] [18] [19]
In late 2024, Aluko returned to his roots in Ebute Meta for the "Toitoi Concert" at the Ojez Railway Recreation Center, captivating fans with a combination of his classic hits and new material. The event marked a significant moment in his career, showcasing his enduring popularity and connection with his audience.[10]
