Comment: Notability is not inherited. Weird West (video game) is notable, but the studio is not. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 00:13, 13 April 2025 (UTC)

Wolfeye Studios is a fully distributed video game developer. It was founded in 2019 by Raphaël Colantonio and Julien Roby and is best known for its game Weird West.
History
[edit]Wolfeye Studios was founded in 2019 by Raphaël Colantonio and Julien Roby. Colantonio is the founder of Arkane Studios and had just taken a 2 year long break from work. Roby, who previously had worked with Colantonio at Arkane, had most recently worked at 2K Australia. Their goal with the new studio was to focus on experiences over technical excellence. The team is fully distributed and initially consisted of under 20 employees.[2][3]
On December 12, 2019, during the Game Awards 2019, the developer's debut game, Weird West, was revealed. It was described as "an action RPG experience set within a surreal vision of the developing frontier" and Devolver Digital was announced to be the publisher.[4] On March 31, 2022, the game was released for Windows, Playstation 4 and Xbox One and was received mostly positive by critics.[5][6] During the 26th Annual D.I.C.E. Awards, Weird West was nominated as "Role-Playing Game of the Year", which was eventually awarded to Elden Ring.[7][8] On May 8, 2023, the game was released for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S subtitled Definitive Edition.[9] On December 12, 2023, Wolfeye Studios announced that Weird West had reached 2 million players.[10]
In August 2024, Wolfeye Studios announced that they were working on a new game, "a first person action RPG". Colantonio also noted that fans of games like Prey or Dishonored, which were both developed by Arkane Studios, "will feel at home".[11] In an interview, Roby reported that at that moment 50-60 people were working for the studio.[1] In February 2025, it was announced that Neowiz would publish the upcoming game for console and PC.[12]
