Description
English: The Red Lion Inn on Yonge Street, just north of Bloor Street (Toronto, Canada). Constructed in 1808 by Daniel Tiers, the Red Lion Inn was one of the first establishments in the (then) suburban Village of Yorkville. Tiers had purchased the land (a block of Farm Lot 20 in the Second Concession from the Bay) from Loyalist George Playter. The Inn was built to serve the traffic coming into town from Davenport Road and Yonge Street, and played a significant role in the formation and evolution of Yorkville.
