Description
English: old synagogue of Meron near the grave of Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai - the Jews of Safed believed the Messiah would come if and when the gate of the Meron synagogue fell.
Français : l’ancienne synagogue de Meron (מֵירוֹן‎). L'architrave de la porte principale était brisée et reposait en équilibre précaire, menacant de s'effondrer. Il existait une tradition comme quoi l'effondrement de cette pierre coïnciderait avec la venue du Messie. Toutefois, dans les années 1960, le Département des Antiquités a renforcé la porte avec du béton, réduisant ainsi à néant les chances de venue du Messie.
