Summary

Description
English: The historic image shows a train pulled by a steam locomotive on a track going through a deep cut into sand (under North Avenue, circa 1860-1880) deposited into Lake Vermont or the Champlain Sea at the end of the last glaciation. There are utility lines and poles along the track and lumber on the pier extending into Lake Champlain. The breakwater is visible. Some bedding is exposed in the sand.
