English: AKA KENNEY HOSPITAL AND NEW SALEM BAPTIST CHURCH; STARTED IN 1927 AS THE FIRST GENERAL HOSPITAL TO EMPLOY AND TRAIN BLACK PHYSICIANS. FOUNDED BY D.R JOHN A KENNEY, SR. WHO WAS BOOKER T. WASHINGTON’S PERSONAL PHYSICIAN. IN 1934 DR. KENNEY DONATED IT TO THE LOCAL LEADERS AND IT BECAME THE COMMUNITY HOSPITAL |
