The Carbide & Carbon Building in the Michigan-Wacker Historic District in Chicago (1929). It was designed by Daniel & Hubert Burnham, the sons of Daniel Burnham, after they left to form their own firm. The Union Carbide and Carbon Corporation operated out of the building (the brand is now owned by Dow Chemical). The building is decorated with 24 karat gold leaf. It was transformed into the Hard Rock Hotel in 2004.
