Nederlands: "De hongersnood in India: Inheemsen wachten op verlichting in Bangalore". Oorspronkelijk onderschrift over de hongersnood in Brits-Indië van 1876 tot 1878 zoals gepubliceerd in het Britse tijdschrift The Illustrated London News op 20 oktober 1877. De hongersnood trof vooral het zuiden en zuidwesten van India en trof 85,5 miljoen mensen. Volgens verschillende schattingen stierven 6 tot 10 miljoen mensen aan de gevolgen van de hongersnood.
