DescriptionHMCS St. Laurent in the Irish Sea, 1966.jpg
English: HMCS St. Laurent anchored in the Irish Sea, 1966, showing our VDS (stern-mounted SQS-504 Variable Depth Sonar), flight deck and hanger, SPS-10 and SPS-12 radar antennae, etc. This was during a European trip which took her to Derry, Southampton, Antwerp, Gotenberg and Helsinki. We carried no helicopter because the hanger was too small for the (new) Sea Kings (it was designed for a Seahorse), so 3 among the crew took motorcycles, or in the photographer's case, a mo-ped, on the trip - I was a Combat Information Operator (Radar Plotter) who had just visited the HMS Rhyl for the day and was returning on the "Sally's"cutter. The too-small hanger was ripped off and replaced with a new, larger one in St. John, NB later that year.
