DescriptionMidland Railway Coat of Arms - geograph.org.uk - 630459.jpg
English: Midland Railway Coat of Arms. Proudly displayed on the outside wall of Derby station is this coat of arms commemorating the Midland Railway whose headquarters were here. The Midland Railway was formed in 1844 and existed until 1923 when it was absorbed into the LMS - a longer lifespan than any of its successors. The coat of arms features the wyvern of mercia, and the shield incorporates the arms of the cities of Birmingham, Bristol, Derby, Leeds, Leicester and Lincoln - all places served by the company.
