English: West of England express entering Salisbury. View westward, towards Exeter on the ex-LSW Waterloo - Salisbury - Exeter etc. main line, also to Westbury on the ex-GWR. The 08.10 Torrington/Ilfracombe - Waterloo express is arriving with SR rebuilt Bulleid Light Pacific No. 34060 '25 Squadron' (built 4/47 as 21C160, rebuilt 11/60, withdrawn 7/67 - one of the last). The photograph is taken from the end of the Down Main platform: on the left can be seen the SR Salisbury West Box and beyond it the Locomotive Depot is just visible; close on the right is the ex-GW signalbox. |
