English: Gayundah (ship) HMQS 'Gayundah' of Queensland's early Navy, launched at Newcastle-on-Tyne, 1884, rests at Woody Point, Queensland after 76 years afloat. On 3 June 1958, the 'Gayundah', once the flagship of the Queensland Navy was beached at Picnic Point and filled with ballast to form a breakwater to prevent erosion. Gayundah Esplanade was named after this vessel, by Redcliffe Town Council in 1962. (Information supplied with photograph).
