English: Sydney Ferry ADMIRAL (built 1883). Admiral was a wooden steamship built in 1883 by William Dunn at Berry's Bay. Of 121 tons, she was 102 feet log with a breadth of 20.6 feet and a draught of 9.2 feet and was powered by a 50hp compound steam engine.
Owned by W & E Waterhouse from the time she was launched, she was leased originally to J Murray and then almost immediately to the Manly Co-operative Steam Ferry Company. Between 1883 and 1896 she ran to Manly. Sold to New Zealand in 1896, she was eventually broken up there in 1926. |
