English: Man always dancing like a puppet of clay but unnecessarily he feels proud of his body. This is God’s gift but the person does not care about it. He is busy in day to day activities. He must help others. He is unaware of the inevitable fact of death.
The artist has shown the messenger of death in the shape of Hammer. On the hammer is written‘ ਜਮ ਕਾ ਡੰਡੁ ਮੂੰਡ ਮਹਿ ਲਾਗੈ ਖਿਨ ਮਹਿ ਕਰੈ ਨਿਬੇਰਾ ( Bhagat Kabīr) ॥ . When the death of hammer strikes at the head of a person, person dies in no time. Symbolically it is like a broken statue or dancing puppet.
In the painting, a portrait of artists’s uncle Gyani Harinder Ajit Singh’Samdarsi’ and two hammers are shown on his head. Both husband and wife died suddenly some where in 1955. They tried to set up ’Baba Daya Singh memorial Library’ as mark of respect to his father at village Jartauli. He had collection of number of books and about 3000 Punjabi quotes to publish. They had no child. Their dreams could not be fulfilled.
