Muhammad Aqeel HI(M) is a three-star general in the Pakistan Army who currently serves as the Commander of the XXXI Corps, Bahawalpur, since May 2, 2025.
Education
[edit]Aqeel is a graduate of the 83rd Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) Long Course and is affiliated with the 2 Frontier Force Regiment (Guides).
Military career
[edit]Commissioned into the Pakistan Army in 1991, Aqeel served as the Inspector General of Communications and Information Technology at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.[1]
In 2023, he was promoted from Major General to the Lieutenant General.[2]
In 2023, Aqeel appointed as the Inspector General Communication & Information Technology (C&IT).[3]
On May 2, 2025, he assumed command of the XXXI Corps, also known as the Bahawalpur Corps, succeeding Lt Gen Saqib Mehmood Malik.
Public engagements
[edit]In May 2025, following cross-border hostilities during Pakistan–India conflict , Lt Gen Aqeel visited Bahawal Victoria Hospital to assess the condition of civilians affected by the conflict.[4]
