Walter Stephen Mott III (born March 24, 1961) is an American former professional football center in the National Football League (NFL). He was selected by the Detroit Lions in the fifth round of the 1983 NFL draft, and he played for the team from 1983 to 1988. He played college football at Alabama.[2] Mott was Coach Paul "Bear" Bryant's last captain.[citation needed] In 2009, two commemorative rings from his college football career were stolen but later recovered from a pawn shop after the arrest of some burglary suspects.[3]
