Question from Absolutsc (18:01, 23 May 2025)

[edit]

I would like to start a new topic --Absolutsc (talk) 18:01, 23 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Absolutsc and welcome to Wikipedia! I think that you're talking about creating a Wikipedia article. Thank you for being willing to do that! It may be tricky for you to start editing by creating an article, because creating articles on Wikipedia are very difficult. There are many technical aspects to Wikipedia that take a lot of learning, but some of the tasks at the Task Center can help you learn those things. For example, all subjects of Wikipedia articles must pass our notability guideline. If you're still interested in creating an article on something, the instructions at Help:Your first article are very informative. If this isn't what you're talking about, let me know here and I can give you a better answer to your question. Cheers and happy editing! Relativity ⚡️ 21:13, 28 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from ShaSwatSharma666 (21:30, 24 May 2025)

[edit]

do I need to cite everything with news article, some times niche articles have no supporting news articles published? --ShaSwatSharma666 (talk) 21:30, 24 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@ShaSwatSharma666: Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Anything that is content that could reasonably be challenged (as a rule of thumb, assume it's every piece of information in an article) should be cited. Sometimes it's hard to find reliable sources to support information in an article, but I can help you with a specific article if you let me know here. Cheers! [edit]

Hello! Do you about authority control and ratings? I would like to improve Electronic Literature articles --Samya Brata Roy (talk) 20:59, 25 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Samya Brata Roy: Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! I'm not great at authority control and ratings—the people at Wikipedia:Reference desk/Computing will probably know about it better than I will. If you have any other questions, I may be able to answer them, though. Cheers! Relativity ⚡️ 21:16, 28 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. You are invited to participate in The World Destubathon. We're aiming to destub a lot of articles and also improve longer stale articles. It's currently planned for June 16-July 13. There is currently $3338 going into it, with $500 the top prize. As 250 countries and entities is too much to patrol, entries will be by user, but there is $500 going into prizes for editors covering the most countries. Sign up if interested! ♦ Dr. Blofeld 17:11, 30 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from ILikeWhaleWatching (22:28, 30 May 2025)

[edit]

Hello. How do i add footnotes to my article. I want to add references. I want to add sections to articles as well, thank you. 😊 --ILikeWhaleWatching (talk) 22:28, 30 May 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@ILikeWhaleWatching: Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! There is a handy guide on how to start adding references to articles at Help:Referencing for beginners. To add information to articles, search for information about a subject, find a reliable source that supports the information you found, and add it! These are both pretty general answers; if you'd like me to elaborate on something specifically, let me know and I'll try my best to help give you a more specific answer. Cheers! Question from Nooby75 (04:53, 2 June 2025)

[edit]

Hey, how can I sumbit a title of an article for redirection? It's telling me to use the draft submission but I don't know if that's suitable for a redirect page.

Page in question: Preacher's Daughter Missing redirects: Preacher's Daughter (album), Preacher's Daughter (Ethel Cain album) --Nooby75 (talk) 04:53, 2 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Nooby75: Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! You can place your request at Wikipedia:Articles for creation/Redirect, a reviewer will get to it promptly, and may create the redirect. Let me know if you have any further questions Relativity ⚡️ 16:11, 2 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from WP 19782025 (16:17, 2 June 2025)

[edit]

How can I post an article --WP 19782025 (talk) 16:17, 2 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@WP 19782025: Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Unfortunately, this may not be a good idea at this time. Articles on Wikipedia are difficult to create, because it involves knowledge of many policies here, which is best learned through experience. One of our policies on Wikipedia is notability, which states that any topic of an article must have multiple sources that are not biased and represent all viewpoints of the topic fairly (more information on reliable sources is available at WP:RS). If a topic does not presently have those sources, it can't presently be created into an article. In addition, articles must be written from a neutral point-of-view—so it's not promoting the topic. This is also very hard to do. My recommendation is to start learning about different things on Wikipedia by taking a look at some of the things you can do at the Task Center. Cheers, and let me know if you have any further questions! Relativity ⚡️ 18:53, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

A message from AstronomyKid1

[edit]

Hello! I saw your name on the Adopt-a-User page, and I've been looking everywhere for someone to adopt me, but nothing yet. If I may ask, I would like to be adopted, and I am a recent changes patroller and AntiVandal, and my main articles I edit are astronomy articles, video game articles, and D&D articles. I mainly do recent changes patrolling nowadays, but I'm not the best at spotting the subtle ones. I usually do the obvious ones. I was wondering if you or somebody else can help me with that. Thank you for reading my unusually long message, and have a good day. Adjø! AstronomyKid1 (talk) 16:13, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@AstronomyKid1: Hello back! This is a bit of a conundrum—I was actually just planning to open up an adoption course, but it hasn't been started yet, and I'm about to be way less active for about a month or so. I'd love to adopt you, but I'm not sure I'd be the best fit right now, with my time constraints. Additionally, while I am active in patrolling vandalism and can help you with that, I don't edit astronomy, video game, or D&D articles (my main subjects of focus are articles on living species, geographical features, and military history).
If you need anything, don't hesitate to drop me a message here, but I just don't think I'd be able to give you the best course if I'm going to be unavailable. If you're still interested, let me know in about a month-and-a-half and I'll let you know my thoughts. Cheers! Relativity ⚡️ 19:11, 3 June 2025 (UTC)[reply]
