Hallo Social waves

[edit]

We Eritreans are very dissatisfied how Eritrean history and politics are censored canceled and dominated by pro Ethiopian Wikipedia editors.

any kind of corrections are censored, Wikipedia pages like Medri Bahri are cited from Ethiopian studies associations or books from Etiopian Tigrayans like Alemsegged Abbay.

why do James Bruce and Samuel Gobat’s remarks about Medri Bahri’s independence doesn't count.

why can all east Africans embrace their culture, history and national identity but why are Eritreans prevented from doing so too.

Wikipedia never listens to complains of Eritreans

Hello, @Eritreannp I'm sorry you feel that way, but I'm happy to explain the reasoning behind my edits. I have direct access to their books and both James Bruce and Samuel Gobat never said that about the Midri Bahr, Bruce talks extensively about the region and makes it clear that it was governed by Ras Mikael Sehul of nearby Tigre [1] (page 95). While it is true that Samuel Gobat said that the province was independent of Tigre in his book, Journal of three years' residence in Abyssinia,[2] he also identified it as being within Ethiopia, not an independent kingdom or anything like that (page 37 and 39).
Oh and as for Alemsegged Abbay's source, that's completely obsolete, I used his source to justify the sentence that the region was semi-autonomous. But now that I added Encyclopaedia Aethiopica as a reference, which says the exact same thing, that source is totally superfluous now and you can remove it if it bothers you that much. thank you for your friendly reply, but I still have opposing views on this matter
it’s still worth to add the references of Samuel Gobat about Medri Bahri beeing separated from Tigray.
besides that Samuel clearly said that Abessiania was made of Tigre, Showa and Amhara https://ia804507.us.archive.org/20/items/journalofthreeye00goba/journalofthreeye00goba.pdf
Also we Eritreans don't want references from Ethiopian studies associations.
We would like to add independent sources and Eritrean sources.
us eritreans we also don't lurk around Ethiopian Wikipedia pages undermining their history.
Abessinia itself wasn't united during the era of the princess (Zemene Mesafint). Eritreannp (talk) 17:50, 26 February 2025 (UTC)[reply]
