Question from Mystepsareordered on User:Mystepsareordered/sandbox (00:07, 9 January 2025)

[edit]

I am wondering how create a Wikipedia page for Zion Broadnax? She stars in transformers earthspark and day shift , here is one Wikipedia from transformers that mentions her but there is no hyper link for her name https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transformers:_EarthSpark --Mystepsareordered (talk) 00:07, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Mystepsareordered, You can read how to create your first article at Help:Your first article. But do note that she must past the general notability guidelines and the specific notability guidelines in order to pass as having an article. Thanks, Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 00:11, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
@Mystepsareordered, I'd like if you'd reply within this thread instead of creating multiple. That is a movie review and doesn't feed into the notability about her as an actress. Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 00:25, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

This is just one, of many, but does this help her pass the notability guidelines? https://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Culture/day-shift-review-jamie-foxx-audience-deserve/story?id=88240343&utm_source=chatgpt.com --Mystepsareordered (talk) 00:20, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Bruebach (10:47, 14 January 2025)

[edit]

Hello, how do I merge and/or delete articles? I was suggested to expand the "Experimental home" stub article and I believe it should just be under the Experimental architecture one --Bruebach (talk) 10:47, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

You can read more about the merge and deletion policies and procedures at: Wikipedia:Merging and Wikipedia:Deletion process/Wikipedia:Deletion policy. Most articles will require you to gain consensus through a discussion but some you can be bold and just merge it yourself. But remember to give attribution. Help with citations

[edit]

Hello Cowboygilbert! I don't know if you remember me, but you managed to help me with some thesis sources for an article I was working on. I have come back to ask for your help regarding these sources. I have currently taken the article to FLC and have received push back regarding these thesises, with a user saying that it was a misreading of WP:SCHOLARSHIP. I'll leave the discussion here as I was hoping you could just verify the comments made in the discussion as I am not as knowledgeable in this discussion. Hope to hear back, CaptainGalaxy 21:14, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, @Captain Galaxy. I only suggested using those sources as it was a normal list article but the featured list criteria for sourcing is much higher and more complex than what is required for notability in normal articles. I said Bachelor’s thesis’ may be okay for a normal article but it may not be good enough for a featured list article. Masters thesis’ are more reliable due to more editorial oversight. Thanks, Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 21:22, 14 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, I left the comment on the FLC and happened to see this discussion. I think there's a misunderstanding here: the featured list criteria include the reliable sources guideline, no more, no less. This isn't like the featured article criteria, which requires "high-quality reliable sources." Per WP:SCHOLARSHIP, bachelor's theses are unreliable sources for any page; this is the same as master's theses unless "significant scholarly influence" is shown. Completed doctoral theses are the only type presumed to be reliable by default. I hope this clears up the confusion. UpTheOctave! • 8va? 20:36, 15 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Lifted Ug (06:42, 16 January 2025)

[edit]

Hello, how can I add birth date to my article --Lifted Ug (talk) 06:42, 16 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Lifted Ug, Your userpage isn’t your article and it shouldn’t be treated as a web host or as an article. I have requested deletion of your userpage as it violates the WP:NOTWEBHOST policy. You can read more about the userpage guidelines at WP:User pages. Thanks, Cowboygilbert - (talk) ♥ 16:34, 16 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Question from Sentin346 (08:27, 16 January 2025)

[edit]

Hi Gilbert!

Hope all well with you! I wrote a page a few months ago and it's still not published, just a draft... it has been edited by others but still a draft. any thoughts? thanks! --Sentin346 (talk) 08:27, 16 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

@Sentin346, Drafts have to be submitted through the articles for creation avenue and it looks like your draft was missing the AfC banner. I have added it and you can click that big blue button on the draft to submit it. You could also just move it to mainspace but you should only do that when you are confident enough in your ability to create good articles.
