Beng Chin Ooi (Chinese: 黃銘鈞; pinyin: Huáng Míngjūn) is a Singaporean computer scientist, currently the Lee Kong Chian Centennial Professor at National University of Singapore, and a former dean of School of Computing (2007-2013).[2][3] He is the adjunct Chang Jiang Professor at Zhejiang University, a visiting Chair Professor at Peking University,[4] and a visiting Distinguished Professor at Tsinghua University.[5] He is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers 2009,[6] Association for Computing Machinery 2011,[7] China Computer Federation 2024,[8] Singapore National Academy of Science 2016,[9] and Singapore Academy of Engineering 2023.[10] He is a foreign member of Academia Europaea 2022,[11] and Chinese Academy of Sciences 2023.[12] He did his BSc (1985) and PhD (1989) at Monash University.[2]

Beng Chin was the recipient of the 2009 ACM SIGMOD Contributions award,[13] 2020 ACM SIGMOD EF Codd Innovations Award,[14] 2024 ACM SIGMOD Systems Award,[15] and a co-recipient of the 2011 Singapore President's Science Award.[16] He was also the recipient of 2012 IEEE Computer Society Kanai award,[17] 2014 IEEE TCDE CSEE (Computer Science, Engineering and Education) Impact Award,[18] and 2016 China Computer Federation (CCF) Overseas Outstanding Contributions Award.[19]
