Bhaimon Da (ভাইমন দা) is an Assamese biographical film directed and written by Sasanka Samir. The film was released in 2025.[4] The film stars Bandip Sharma, Yashshree Bhuyan, Nirupam Shaikia, Nilim Dutta and Arghadeep Barua in some of the leading roles.[5] Produced by Shyamantak Gautam and Anupam Sharma under the banner of Jill Creations, the story is based on the life of noted Assamese Filmmaker Munin Barua. [4]

Story

Bhaimon Da narrates the life and works of Assamese filmmaker, script-writer Munin Barua. The film explores his life from his youth to the final days, simultaneously presenting some of the real challenges faced by Assamese cinema industry during his time.[4]

Production

A poster launch event and music release ceremony was held on 7 October 2024 at the Rudra Barua Hall, Jyotichitraban, Guwahati. Along with it, a live painting session was also organized to pay tribute to Munin Barua as part of the inauguration ceremony.[5][3]

The music for the film was composed by Zubeen Garg and Poran Borkatoky whom marked their second collaboration after Pratighaat film. This marked the debut of Assamese singer Amritprava Mahanta, Montu Moni Saikia and Assamese rapper Van M as a playback singer. The song "Mon Hira Doi" from Bowari (1982) who originally sung by Mahananda Majinder Baruah was recreated and sung by Montu Moni Saikia.

The film was released in theaters on May 23, 2025 and received favorable reviews from critics and audiences.[6]
