Afrocantharellus is a subgenus of fungi in the genus Cantharellus. Species in this genus is found in Africa and China.[2]

Taxonomy

[edit]

It was originally named as a subgenus of Cantharellus, but was elevated to the rank of genus Afrocantharellus by Donatha D. Tibuhwa in 2012 based on morphological and molecular evidence.[1] The genus was reverted back to a subgenus by further molecular-based infrageneric classification Bart Buyck, Frank Kauff, Corinne Cruaud and Valérie Hofstetter in 2012-2013.[3]
