The thirty-ninth series of the British medical drama television series Casualty began airing on BBC One in the United Kingdom on 10 August 2024. The series focuses on the professional and personal lives of medical and ancillary staff at the emergency department (ED) of the fictional Holby City Hospital. Liza Mellody continued as series producer, with no executive producer credited following the departure of Jon Sen. Series 39 consists of the second half of the miniseries Storm Damage, continuing from the previous series.

Production

Series 39 is primarily filmed at Roath Lock Studios, located in Cardiff, where the serial has been produced since 2011.

The series began airing in the United Kingdom on 10 August 2024 on BBC One, a week after the conclusion to the previous series.[1][2][3] Series 39 is set to continue following a three month break in late 2024. At the end of the most recent episode "Freedom" broadcast on 7 September 2024, a trailer for the Christmas special was shown.[4]

Cast

The thirty-ninth series of Casualty features a cast of characters working for the NHS within the emergency department of Holby City Hospital and the Holby Ambulance Service.[5] Sixteen cast members reprised their roles from the previous series, with this series the first not to feature Derek Thompson as Charlie Fairhead.
