The 2024 National Football Conference (NFC) Championship Game will feature the Philadelphia Eagles and Washington Commanders, at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This game will crown the NFC Champion setting the stage for one team to advance to Super Bowl LIX.
Background
[edit]The Philadelphia Eagles, led by quarterback Jalen Hurts and running back Saquon Barkley, finished the season with a 14–3 record, clinching the NFC East and securing the No. 2 seed behind the Detroit Lions.
In the NFC Divisional Round on January 19, 2025, the Eagles beat the Los Angeles Rams with a close 28–22 victory.[1]
During the regular season, the Washington Commanders, under the leadership of rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels, surprised many by making the playoffs as the No. 6 seed with a 12-5 record.
In the NFC Wild Card Round on January 12, 2025, Washington beat the No. 3 seeded Tampa Bay Buccaneers 23–20 in a close game.[2]
In the NFC Divisional Round on January 18, 2025, the Commanders pulled off a monumental upset against the No. 1 seed Detroit Lions in a 45–31 shootout.[3][4]
If the Commanders can overcome the Eagles, Jayden Daniels will become the first rookie quarterback in NFL history to start in a Super Bowl.[5]
