This was followed by the introduction of Ricebowl in 2015, a portal catering to Mandarin- and English-speaking job seekers.
History
[edit]AJobThing was founded in 2013 under the name Brightan System Sdn Bhd by Ray Teng[1]. The company focuses on recruitment solutions, particularly for non-executive and blue-collar roles. It operates job platforms such as Maukerja and Ricebowl, along with Sonar, a recruitment management system designed to streamline the hiring process.
Maukerja was launched in 2014 to serve job seekers using Bahasa Malaysia and English[2]. Initially developed in Burmese, the platform was later localized to cater to Malaysian users, following early adoption by local audiences. In response to the employment challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, Maukerja launched the Kita Jaga Kita initiative, aimed at supporting job seekers and employers[3][4][5]. The company also introduced Maukerja Academy[6], offering online training programs focused on career advancement and job search skills.
In 2015, the company introduced Ricebowl to meet growing demand from Mandarin-speaking users[7].
It also hosted the inaugural Ekspo Maukerja job fair in Kuala Lumpur in 2016[8]. The event later expanded to other cities, including Johor and Penang, with multi-location fairs organized in 2017[9][10]
