Abhiram Singh Yadav (born June 21, 1986) is an Indonesian academic, political advisor, and cricket administrator of Indian descent. He lectures in international relations at the LSPR Communication and Business Institute in Jakarta and is known for bridging diplomacy, youth empowerment, and national sports development. He has served as Special Staff to the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, led ASEAN youth diplomacy initiatives, and currently chairs the Indonesian Cricket Association (Persatuan Cricket Indonesia, PCI). Under his leadership, Indonesian cricket achieved milestones including its first-ever ICC World Cup qualification and a gold medal at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games.[1]

Early life and education

Yadav was born in 1986 and raised in a multicultural Indian-Indonesian family. He studied at Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH), earning a Master's degree in International Relations in 2018. As a student, he was active in youth leadership programs and policy-based academic initiatives.

Academic career

Yadav lectures at the LSPR Communication and Business Institute in Jakarta, where he teaches international diplomacy, Indo-Pacific geopolitics, and ASEAN studies. In 2022, he authored the book Indo-Pasifik: Sebuah Konstruksi Geopolitik, published by Elex Media Komputindo.[2]

He is a frequent contributor to Indonesian media including Kompas and Detik, writing about foreign policy, AUKUS, U.S.–Indonesia relations, and ASEAN affairs.[3]

He chaired UPH's 2020 international conference on the Indo-Pacific and currently serves as Chairman of the UPH Master of International Relations Alumni Association and Vice Chair of the university’s national alumni board.

Political involvement

Yadav served as Vice Chairman for International Affairs of the National Youth Council (KNPI) and as Vice Chairman of the Committee for ASEAN Youth Cooperation (CAYC). He represented Indonesia in regional youth diplomacy forums.

From 2019 to 2021, he was Special Staff to the Deputy Speaker of the People's Representative Council, providing policy input on foreign affairs and security.[4]

In 2015, he publicly advocated for the inclusion of Diwali as a national holiday in Indonesia, promoting recognition of the Indian-Indonesian community.[5]

Cricket leadership

Yadav began working with the Indonesian Cricket Association in the 2010s and became Acting Chairman in 2022. That year, the women’s U-19 team qualified for the 2023 ICC Under-19 Women's T20 World Cup, Indonesia’s first-ever appearance at an ICC tournament.[6]

He was formally elected Chairman of PCI on January 8, 2023. Under his leadership, Indonesia won four medals, including a gold in the women’s six-a-side cricket at the 2023 Southeast Asian Games.[7]

He advocates for grassroots development, inclusive sport, and international partnerships. He represents Indonesia in the ICC East Asia-Pacific region.
