Andrei-Dragos Popescu (Andrei-Dragoș Popescu Romanian pronunciation: [anˈdrej ˈdraɡoʃ poˈpesku]; born May 30, 1985 in Craiova, Dolj County, Romania) also known as Andrei Popescu, is a Romanian-born author,[1][2][3] academic,[4][5][6] entrepreneur,[7][8] and investor based in Singapore.[9][10][11][12]
Career
[edit]Andrei-Dragos Popescu holds a master’s degree in Business Management and a PhD in Finance from the University of Craiova. He is the founder and CEO of SCX Holdings Pte. Ltd., a Singapore-based asset management and investment firm specializing in financial digital assets and investment strategies.[13]
Throughout his career, Popescu has been actively involved in FinTech, Decentralized Finance, and investment management across Europe, Southeast Asia, and the United States. He has contributed to policy discussions, industry innovations, and blockchain-based financial solutions.[14]
He is also the founding board member of the Romanian Chamber of Commerce in Singapore (RoCham - Singapore).[15]
In addition to his work in the financial industry, Popescu is a frequent speaker at industry conferences, where he discusses topics such as blockchain technology, financial digital assets portfolio modeling, decentralized finance, and financial inclusion. He has also authored and co-authored over 20 academic publications, many of which focus on these subjects.[16] [17][18][19]
His book, Financial Digital Assets and the Financial Risk Modeling of Portfolio Investments, co-authored with Cristi Spulbar, was published by IGI Global Scientific Publishing in 2025. The work examines financial risk modeling and the integration of digital assets into traditional investment portfolios.[20]
Recognition
[edit]Andrei-Dragos Popescu was named Alternative Asset Management CEO of the Year (Singapore) in 2024 by APAC Insider, recognizing his contributions to the financial sector. In 2022, he was featured in the Top 100 Romanians Everywhere list by RePatriot, highlighting his entrepreneurial success internationally.[21][22]
His firm, SCX Holdings, was recognized in the Ethical Finance Awards 2022 by Wealth & Finance International for its contributions to sustainable and responsible investing.[23]
Popescu has also been involved in mentoring initiatives, contributing to programs such as Asia Institute of Mentoring and Sparked Impact, where he advises entrepreneurs and professionals on financial technologies and investment strategies.[24][25]
