Draft:Atok

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Atok is a South Korea-based mobile advertising platform that integrates blockchain, artificial intelligence (AI), and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to reward users with cryptocurrency for sharing location data and engaging with advertisements. The platform employs a dual "Move-to-Earn" (M2E) and "Watch-to-Earn" (W2E) model, incentivizing users for physical activities and interaction with targeted content. Atok operates on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) and uses its native token, $ATOK, for transactions and rewards.[1][2]

History

[edit]

Atok was founded in 2012 as PangPang Genie in South Korea, initially focusing on rewarding users for contributing data to cold-chain logistics. In 2022, it rebranded to Atok and adopted a Web3-based Move-to-Earn model, capitalizing on the growing popularity of decentralized technologies and fitness-incentivized applications. The rebranding aimed to address inefficiencies in traditional digital advertising by offering cryptocurrency rewards to enhance user engagement.

Functionality

[edit]

The Atok mobile application, available on iOS and Android, tracks user movement via GPS and rewards users with $ATOK tokens through two primary mechanisms:

  • Move-to-Earn: Users earn tokens based on the distance and time spent walking, cycling, or driving, encouraging physical activity.[1]
  • Watch-to-Earn: Users receive tokens for engaging with targeted advertisements, completing tasks such as quizzes or store check-ins, or visiting designated physical locations.[1]

The platform leverages AI to personalize advertisements and IoT for real-time location tracking, aiming to improve advertiser return on investment and user experience. Additional features include daily check-ins, friend referrals, and in-app games to boost engagement.[1]

Technology

[edit]

Blockchain

[edit]

Atok operates on the Binance Smart Chain (BSC) using the BEP-20 token standard for $ATOK. Smart contracts automate reward distribution, ensuring transparency and security. The platform includes Atok Swap, a decentralized exchange feature that enables users to convert $ATOK to stablecoins like USDT. In 2024, Atok partnered with Bitget Wallet to enhance cryptocurrency management and transaction efficiency for users.[3][4] In 2025, Atok announced a collaboration with Bitgert, a blockchain platform, to improve scalability and reduce transaction costs within its ecosystem.[5]

Cryptocurrency and Wallet

[edit]

The $ATOK token serves as the core utility token for in-app transactions, NFT purchases, and rewards. An integrated wallet allows users to store, send, and receive tokens. Atok employs a deflationary mechanism, periodically burning tokens to reduce the circulating supply, with a reported burn of 45.5 million $ATOK tokens by May 2025.

Tokenomic

[edit]
  • Token Name: $ATOK
  • Standard: BEP-20
  • Total Supply: Initially 10 billion tokens, with periodic burns to reduce volume.
  • Exchange: Atok Swap facilitates peer-to-peer exchanges between $ATOK and USDT, with a real-time "Status Token Burning" meter adjusting transaction fees based on market demand.

Organization

[edit]

Atok’s leadership includes:

  • Edward Lee (Chairman)
  • Mattew Ha (CEO)
  • Daniel Kim (CHO)
  • Jae H. Jeong (CMO)
  • Scott Lee (CFO)
  • Stefan (CPO)
  • Raymond (Design)
  • Cherleana (Marketing)
  • John (Advisor)
  • Tony (Advisor)

Reception

[edit]

Atok has garnered attention in Southeast Asia, particularly in Vietnam, where it has been recognized for connecting users and advertisers through a mobile Move-to-Earn model.[2] Vietnamese media have noted its potential to enhance user engagement in digital advertising. The platform’s partnerships with Bitget Wallet and Bitgert have been highlighted as steps toward improving Web3 infrastructure and transaction efficiency in the advertising sector. [3][4][5]However, its broader impact on the blockchain and adtech industries remains under evaluation due to limited coverage in mainstream publications.

Market Context

[edit]

Atok operates in a growing cryptocurrency and blockchain market in Vietnam, where the government is developing a legal framework to support digital asset innovation and investor safety.[6] This environment has facilitated the adoption of blockchain-based platforms like Atok, which integrate Web3 technologies into advertising.[2]
