Submission declined on 29 January 2025 by Dan arndt (talk). This submission's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Wikipedia article—that is, they do not show significant coverage (not just passing mentions) about the subject in published, reliable, secondary sources that are independent of the subject (see the guidelines on the notability of events). Before any resubmission, additional references meeting these criteria should be added (see technical help and learn about mistakes to avoid when addressing this issue). If no additional references exist, the subject is not suitable for Wikipedia. Declined by Dan arndt 4 months ago. | ![]() |
Comment: Local event covered only in local sources. The Seattle Times is a major newspaper, but the subject is unlikely to be of general interest. See WP:SBST and WP:FAILN. Could possibly be added to the Bainbridge Island article. WeirdNAnnoyed (talk) 11:32, 24 March 2025 (UTC)
Comment: Needs more significant coverage than the local newspaper. Dan arndt (talk) 08:06, 29 January 2025 (UTC)
The Bainbridge Island Rotary Auction and Rummage Sale is an annual fundraiser organized by the Bainbridge Island Rotary Club.[1][2] The event takes place in Woodward Middle School.[3][4] Along with Rotary Club members, the sale is managed and organized by over 2,000 community volunteers.[5] Over the course of several days, items are donated by local community members to be sold for charity.[3] In 2023, the sale raised over $800,000 gross. [3]
History
[edit]The first Rotary Auction and rummage sale was held in 1960.[5] It has occurred every year since, most recently the 64th annual sale in 2024.[3] In 2020 and 2021 the event was held virtually due to the COVID-19 pandemic.[2][6]
Impact
[edit]All net proceeds from the event fund community projects.[6] Projects include college scholarships for local students, community grants for local nonprofits, and international humanitarian projects.[7][8]
