Castle Gardens is a residential neighborhood in Livonia, Michigan, United States. Located in the southwestern part of the city, the neighborhood consists primarily of single-family homes and has been a part of Livonia’s suburban development since the mid-20th century.

History & Development

Castle Gardens was developed in the mid-20th century during Livonia’s post-WWII suburban expansion. The neighborhood consists of 1,181 single-family homes and is located in southwestern Livonia, bordered by 5 Mile, Newburgh, I-96, and I-275.

In 2024, the Grand Reserve was developed by Infinity Homes, featuring new single-family homes. Home prices in the area begin around $719,990 for a 2,800-square-foot, four-bedroom home.

Severe Weather Events

On June 5, 2024, an EF1 tornado touched down near Mason and Houghton streets in Livonia. Tragically, a falling tree claimed the life of a young child and critically injured their mother. The storm caused significant damage and flooding.

In August 2022, a severe storm brought down large trees and caused power outages throughout in the Castle Gardens subdivision. Strong winds knocked down power lines, blocking roads and leaving over 2,500 residents without electricity.

Castle Gardens residents have access to several local parks.

• Bien Park – Located at 14900 Eckles, the park covers 3.21 acres and features two soccer fields, a play structure, picnic tables, and a walking path.
• Grennada Park – Located at 14121 Knolson, this 5.58-acre park features open green space.
• Chatham Tennis Courts – Located at 37801 Five Mile, this 1.35-acre park includes two tennis courts and an inline skate rink.

Past Events

Castle Gardens hosts annual community events, including a Halloween Trunk or Treat, a neighborhood Motor Crawl Club ride, and a community-wide garage sale. These events provide opportunities for resident participation and engagement.

Pool Facility

Castle Gardens has a private swimming facility, the Castle Gardens Pool, which is operated by the Castle Gardens Private Association (CGPA). The pool is accessible to residents and association members, offering recreational and fitness activities. Membership is required for use.
