Cedar LNG (Cedar) is a proposed $4 billion floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) export facility located in Kitimat, British Columbia, Canada. Cedar is the first Indigenous majority-owned LNG project and is developed through a partnership with the Haisla Nation owning 50.1% and Pembina Pipeline (Pembina) owning 49.9%.[1]
The project's anticipated capacity is 3.3 million tonnes per year and has signed an agreement to receive 400 million cubic feet per day through the Coastal GasLink pipeline. The project is expected to enter service in late 2028.[1]
History
[edit]On March 13, 2023, Cedar received its first permit, an Environmental Assessment Certificate, from the British Columbia government.[2]
On June 25, 2024, the Haisla Nation and Pembina had reached a positive final investment decision.[1]
