Pemberton Roach of AllMusic called it a "fairly representative set of the band's hits" and that "While Chronicle or the double disc Platinum may be a better place to start for newbies, Opus Collection includes about 10 of CCR's most popular tunes and enough quality tracks to perk the ears of those raised on classic rock radio."[1]
