Early Life and Education

Dr. Prasad Gourineni was born on Aug 10, 1963, in Andhra Pradesh, India. He completed his medical degree at Andhra Medical College, NTR University of Health Sciences. Dr. Gourineni pursued orthopedic residencies in India and at Northwestern University in Chicago, followed by a fellowship in Pediatric Orthopedics at Texas Scottish Rite Hospital in Dallas.

Career

Dr. Gourineni serves as a Clinical Associate Professor in Orthopedics at the University of Illinois, Chicago, and as an Orthopedic Consultant at MidAmerica Orthopedics, Palos Hills, USA. He is also the Chairman of Amara Hospital[1] in Karakambadi, Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India, and the President and Founder of the Paediatric Orthopaedic Foundation[2].

Dr. Gourineni has previously held the position of Head of the Division of Pediatric Orthopedics at Advocate Children's Hospital, Oak Lawn, IL. He is recognized for his work in hip preservation and pediatric orthopedics, particularly through the Amara Hip Preservation Centre of Excellence.

Contributions to Orthopedics

Dr. Gourineni has contributed significantly to hip preservation techniques[3], including hip arthroscopy, femoral neck osteotomy, and periacetabular osteotomy. His work spans numerous complex hip surgeries and training sessions for surgeons internationally.

At Amara Hospital, he has played a key role in community health initiatives, including free surgeries for cerebral palsy patients and physical fitness awareness programs for women.[4]

Dr. Gourineni also facilitated a partnership between Amara Hospital and Gomel State Medical University (GSMU)[5] to promote clinical training and research cooperation.
