Excelsoft Technologies was founded in 2000 by Dhananjaya Sudhanva along with Lajwanti Sudhanva and M.H. Dhananjaya. Initially focused on creating customized e-learning solutions, the company soon developed proprietary platforms like SARAS to cater to the growing demand for digital education tools in India and abroad.

In 2024, Excelsoft filed a draft red herring prospectus (DRHP) with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) to raise ₹700 crore through an initial public offering (IPO), aimed at funding expansion and technological advancements.[3][4]

In 2024, Excelsoft partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar to establish a dedicated research lab focused on educational technology innovations. The collaboration is intended to create scalable, AI-driven learning solutions and assessment methodologies.[5]
