  • Comment: References are mentions, WP:NEWSORGINDIA, or film reviews simply verifying roles, or otherwise unreliable. NACTOR is not met simply for having these roles and verifying through sources. There needs to be significant coverage to allow to create a page without original research. I also did a WP:BEFORE to help save time for future submissions and was also unable to find anything that would show notability. CNMall41 (talk) 18:12, 22 March 2025 (UTC)

Career

[edit]

Gaurav Dwivedi graduated in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the Mandsaur Institute of Technology, Madhya Pradesh.[1] He wanted to pursue a Masters degree from Australia, but changed his career plans and returned to India. He settled in Delhi and worked in Red FM as an RJ, and also hosted shows on All India Radio. He then moved to Pune to pursue acting, and completed the Acting course at FTII (Film and Television Institute of India)[2] of the 2005-2008 batch.[1][3] His batchmates from the course included Rajkumar Yadav, Jaideep Ahlawat, Vijay Varma, Sunny Hinduja, Auroshikha Dey and Pitobash Tripathy.[1][4][5]

During a play at FTII, filmmaker Ketan Mehta observed his emotional range[3] that lead to his casting as Raja Ravi Varma's younger brother Raj Varma, in the film Rang Rasiya (2008).[6][7][8] He then played the lead in Gora (2012), a TV series on the DD National channel, based on the Rabindranath Tagore novel of the same name.[9] In the supporting cast were his FTII batchmates Prabhat Raghunandan and Swati Sen.[10] In 2015, he worked with Ketan Mehta again, playing a journalist[11] in the movie Manjhi – The Mountain Man.[12]

He worked in the Hindi movie Inkaar (2013)[13] and Indian-American film For Here or to Go? (2015),[14] Ketan Mehta's short film Toba Tek Singh (2018),[15] and web series Criminal Justice (2019),[16] Human[17] and Hush Hush (2022),[18] and Crime Beat (2025).[19]

He acted in the short film Bombay Summer[20] which won awards including Best Film, at the New York MIAAC Film Festival in 2009.[21] Two years after Bombay Summer, he teamed up with his co-actors from that film - Samrat Chakrabarti and Jatin Goswami, for a reunion plot in the short film Yari Road. The dialogue was improvisational, and the film was featured at the 15th New York Indian Film Festival (NYIFF), 2015,[22] and the 22nd Filmi: Toronto's South Asian Film Festival, 2024.[23][24]

He played the central character of a CBI investigator in the short film Still Voices, gaining him a nomination for the Best Actor award.[citation needed] The film won the Honorable Mention 4th prize at the Los Angeles Reel Film Festival and the Special Mention Critic's Prize at the 58th Columbus Film Festival in 2010.[3][25]
