Hillary Akpua is a real estate developer, philanthropist, entrepreneur, and an educational/business consultant.

He is a member of the Certified Board of Administrator. Hillary is also a certified first aider with Nigeria Red Cross Society.

Early Life and Education

Akpua was born August 15 1985 to the family of late Chief Sir Peter Nwaonyeocha Akpua and late Lady Theresa Ngozi Akpua of Anambra State, Nigeria. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology from the Madonna University, Nigeria, Rivers State in 2009.

Career

In 2024, he was conferred the honorary doctorate degree by the American Management University, California, at the Visionary Leadership Conference 2024

As a CEO of Hilmira Group, a real estate and agricultural development company, he is currently partnering the Nigerian Army Smart Ville Estate to develop five thousand (5000) units of houses for its officers.

Akpua is the founder of Great Achievers Initiative for Youth and Community Development (GAIYD) whose focus is on male child non formal education and development.

GAIYD was launched in 2023-the initiative Akpua said was born out of his passion to give a voice to neglected young boys in the society.

On the occasion of 2024 International Day of Boychild,  GAIYD joined EFCC and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) to sensitize young boys on the dangers of cybercrime and drug abuse respectively.[1]

In recent times, GAIYD has been partnering NDLEA to combat drug abuse amongst young Nigerians, especially male.

Akpua is also an advocate of formal and informal education for boy child. This motivated the official launch of “One Boy One Skill Project” in May 2025.

He's a Board member of Africa Business Leadership and Investment Summit (ABLIS). ABLIS is a Summit organized to reshape Africa’s narrative through transformational leadership and enhancing new investment opportunities across the continent.

Also in May, 2025, he was appointed as a Board Member for the 2025 Global Excellence & Summit Awards (GESA) and the African Union Women Impact Awards, which took place in May 2025 in Lagos, Nigeria.

Akpua has featured as a guest on several media interviews. Including Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Arise News, TVC New, SOUQ News Television, Global TV, ITV; different radio stations, among others, to give his opinion about business, trending and societal issues.

Awards and Recognition

In June 2022, he was named amongst other awardees at the Eminent Magazine 10th anniversary as an Outstanding Marketer of the year.

In May 2025, Akpua alongside Alhaji Aliko Dangote and other eminent Nigerians bagged Peace Legend Awards International at the 14th edition of the award held at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

Other Awards and Recognition include: the Merville International Merits Award UAE 2022, the African CEO Merits Award as the Most Outstanding African CEO 2023,  African Goodwill Ambassador Award 2022, Africa Visionary Leadership Awards 2024 as Most Outstanding Visionary Entrepreneur of the Year in 2024, UAE Special Recognition Award in recognition of his great achievements in the Blockchain Industry at the Abuja Blockchain Conference 2023, African Union Agenda 2063 Women Impact and He4She Awards 2025, Award of Excellence in Business Leadership and Philanthropy, Champion of Good Cause Award for his Humanitarian/Selfless Service to Humanity in November 12, 2022, among others.
