The Iran National Front (INF) is an organization rooted in the principles of the original Iran National Front, established to continue its mission globally. Founded on the values of Dr. Mohammad Mossadegh, INF adheres to the ideals of national sovereignty, democracy, and social justice. The current Secretary-General of the INF is Dr. Siavash Soltani.
Historical Background
[edit]The Iran National Front was established in 1949 under the leadership of Dr. Mossadegh. It aimed to create a democratic and independent government in Iran. The Front played a pivotal role in the nationalization of Iran's oil industry and formed the core of Mossadegh's government.
Post the 1953 coup d'état, members of the Front formed the National Resistance Movement, exposing the Anglo-American coup known as Operation Ajax. Subsequent generations of the Iran National Front, such as the Second National Front (1960s) and Third National Front, challenged the authoritarian regime of Mohammad Reza Shah, organizing large-scale protests and raising public awareness about its shortcomings.
During the 1979 Iranian Revolution, the Iran National Front became divided. Some members, led by Dr. Karim Sanjabi, supported Ayatollah Khomeini, while others, like Dr. Shapour Bakhtiar, advocated for reforms within the framework of the constitutional monarchy. After the revolution, many members were imprisoned, exiled, or executed.
Formation of INF
[edit]In response to limitations on political activity and disunity among opposition groups, members of the Sixth National Front under the leadership of Dr. Siavash Soltani established the Iran National Front. This organization aims to unify all factions of the National Front globally, regardless of geographic or political differences. It embraces liberal democracy as its ideology and seeks to promote national sovereignty and democracy for Iran.
Objectives
[edit]- Global Representation: The INF expands its activities worldwide to include all supporters of the Iran National Front.
- Unity of Efforts: It rejects monopolistic claims over the name "Iran National Front" and acknowledges all factions adhering to Mossadegh's principles.
- Advocacy for Democracy: The INF promotes liberal democracy as its core ideology.
Activities
[edit]- Advocating for democratic governance in Iran.
- Organizing protests, events, and campaigns against authoritarianism.
- Supporting the Iranian people's struggle for freedom, particularly during pivotal moments such as the Mahsa Amini protests.
- Establishing a Youth and Student Organization to foster the next generation of leaders.
Leadership
[edit]The INF is currently led by Dr. Siavash Soltani, who has played a significant role in revitalizing the National Front's mission globally.
