Jay Alter (born 1994) is an American sports broadcaster known for his work with ESPN . Since joining the network in 2018, he has become a versatile voice across multiple sports, including college football, men's basketball, women's lacrosse, and NFL coverage on ESPN Radio..[1]

Early Life and Education

Alter was born and raised in Darien, Connecticut. He graduated from Syracuse University’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in 2016 with a degree in broadcast journalism.[2] During his time at Syracuse, he gained extensive experience through student-run outlets, serving as sports director at both WAER and WJPZ-FM (Z89).[3]

After college, Alter worked as a weekend sports anchor for News 12 Connecticut and called games for the BIG EAST Digital Network.[2]
