Draft:Jeffry Knight

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  • Comment: Well done on creating the draft, and it may potentially meet the relevant requirements (including WP:GNG, WP:ANYBIO) but presently it is not clear that it does.
As you may know, Wikipedia's basic requirement for entry is that the subject is notable. Essentially subjects are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject. To properly create such a draft page, please see the articles ‘Your First Article’, ‘Referencing for Beginners’ and ‘Easier Referencing for Beginners’.
The draft needs to establish why Knight is notable - it would appear he is not notable for being a businessman so the opening statement should be revised.
Also, if you have any connection to the subject, including being the subject (see WP:AUTOBIO) or being paid, you have a conflict of interest that you must declare on your Talk page (to see instructions on how to do this please click the link).
Please familiarise yourself with these pages before amending the draft. If you feel you can meet these requirements, then please make the necessary amendments before resubmitting the page. It would help our volunteer reviewers by identifying, on the draft's talk page, the WP:THREE best sources that establish notability of the subject.
It would also be helpful if you could please identify with specificity, exactly which criteria you believe the page meets (eg "I think the page now meets WP:ANYBIO criteria #3, because XXXXX").
Once you have implemented these suggestions, you may also wish to leave a note for me on my talk page and I would be happy to reassess. Cabrils (talk) 04:52, 11 June 2025 (UTC)
  • Comment: Possibly notable. Gheus (talk) 09:43, 9 May 2025 (UTC)

Jeffry D Knight
Born1962 (age 62–63)

Jeffry Knight is a Pinellas County businessman who founded Knight Enterprises and Knight Global Entertainment, LLC.

Business Activity

[edit]

In 1982, Knight founded Knight Enterprises, a communication infrastructure service provider.[1] Knight Enterprises was acquired by Mill Point Capital in 2020.[2] Knight later formed Knight Global Entertainment, LLC which is the parent company of Jannus Live, the Ringside Café, the Pelican Pub, MacDinton's Irish Pub, and other various businesses in Pinellas County.[2][3] In 2025, Jannus Live issued a press release that Knight was "stepping down from his position at Jannus Live and will no longer have any affiliation with the venue." It went on to say the decision was made "out of respect for the victims of the recent Clearwater Ferry tragedy."[4]

Controversy

[edit]

Knight has a history of boating issues including citations and lawsuits. In 2012, a lawsuit alleged a man fell off of Knight's yacht, hit his head and drowned. The case was later dismissed.[5] Knight was issued a citation in 2017 for for careless operation of a vessel for allowing his 14-year-old stepson to operate a boat.[6] Four plantiffs sued Knight in 2019 when his boat collided with their pontoon boat allegedly injuring them. According to court records, the lawsuit was later settled for a confidential sum. That same year he was cited on suspicion of careless operation of a vessel and violation of navigation rules, but both charges were dismissed in 2020.[7]

Clearwater Ferry Incident

[edit]

In 2025, Knight was in the news for another boating incident when his 37-foot recreational center console motorboat ran up and onto the Clearwater ferry, killing one person and injuring 10 others.[5] According to Knight, the collision was caused by the captain of the ferry not having proper lighting and being distracted by dolphins in the water. The Clearwater Ferry is a water taxi operated by the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority.[8]
