KGUR Radio Station is a non-commercial, no-playlist, student hosted community college radio station. They are known for playing a variety of diverse genres and opening daily song requests. KGUR is licensed to San Luis Obispo, California.[1] Owned by Cuesta College, the station is hosted by students from its on-campus studio located in the 6100 building. KGUR streams its programming online during the business week and has established a growing social media audience.[2][3]
History

[edit]In 2010, the radio station migrated online where it broadcasted on IBM's Ustream. In 2019, the radio station migrated from Ustream to YouTube, then to Twitch.
Social media
[edit]In 2017, Nessie Lane Atwood became the Program Director and started promotion by making handmade posters and putting them up on the window outside the station.[4][5][6] They got the attention of the students and the college administration, being a fan favorite amongst the school population. [7][8]Soon after, Nessie debuted the radio station onto social media and began gaining a significant online following. KGUR's posts on Instagram have garnered thousands of views, and several followers across all platforms. [9]
