Khairul Basar is a Bangladeshi actor and singer. He works primarily in Dhallywood cinema and television dramas. He won the Meril-Prothom Alo Awards for Best Actor for his performances in the television drama Galiber Prem O Boshonter Kabbo (2022).[1]

Early life

Bashar was born on 1 December, he has completed Honors from the Music Department of Dhaka University.[2] and his birth place is Kishoreganj, Mymensing, Bangladesh.[3][4]

Career

Bashar began his career with dummies in 2011. His dumb acting guru is Mir Lokman. His dumb acting started with a mime organization called 'Dhaka University Mime Action'. He has performed in nearly 400 mime shows between 2011-2017.[5] After dumb acting, he made his debut acting career with a short film Punorabritti (2017).[6][7]

He made his debut silver screen with the Bangladesh's first anthology film Iti, Tomari Dhaka in (2019)[8] and the film was won the Russian Guild of Film Critics Award in the 15th edition of Kazan International Muslim Film Festival[9][10] and the film also won an award in the category of best original screenplay at the 11th edition of the Jaipur International Film Festival.[11]

He was also seen in the film Campus Climax (2020) which was directed by Dhaka University student Jeet Dey, it is based on the story of Dhaka University. After the release of the film on YouTube received good praises.[12] In Valentine's Day 2020, he signed his acting skills by acting in the central role in the television drama "Tomar Pashe Hatte Diyo" organized by Close-up around the World Valentine's Day, he became very popular by acting in this drama.[13] He also appeared in feature film Unoponchash Batash which received the International Jury Award at the 19th Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) and Masud Hasan Ujjal received the Best Director Award at the Rainbow Film Festival in London[14] and the film was released on 2020.[7]

He appeared in the Telefilm Chumki Cholechhe and Charer Master (2021) which received very well praised from audience.[15] Also he appeared in the Chorki's Webfilm Networker Baire (2021) directed by Mizanur Rahman Aryan and it is received very well praised from audience.[16] He was nominated for the Chorki Award for Best supporting actor in web series Nikhoj (2022) which streaming on Chorki.[17] He won Meril-Prothom Alo Awards for Best Television Actor in 2022 for the television drama Galiber Prem O Boshonter Kabbo (2022).[1] He won Bangladesh Excellence Award for Best actor for the television drama Shohore Onek Rod (2023).[18] And he won Global Star Awards 2024 for Best Actor for the television drama Shasti (2024).[19] He also appeared in the film Kajolrekha (2024) which released on Eid festival of 2024[20] and the film has been selected for screened at the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR) in the Netherlands in 2025.[21][22]
