Laxmanrekhaa is an Indian brand of household insecticide owned by Midas Hygiene Industries Pvt Ltd. Together with its sister product Khatnil, a liquid insect repellent, Laxmanrekhaa is widely used in India and is marketed internationally. It is also available in Nepal.
In 1986, the brand name was registedred by Late Mr Swadesh Kapoor. "The Original Laxmanrekhaa" is owned by Midas Hygiene Industries Pvt Ltd, where "The Original" is Copyright and Laxmanrekhaa is a trademark, sigle owned by Midas only.
Creation
[edit]Laxmanrekhaa was made its first appearance as an insecticidal chalk in the 1986 by Late Mr Swadesh Kapoor. It is believed that Late Mr Swadesh Kapoor himself came up with the name Laxmanrekhaa. The word Laxmanrekhaa is reference to an incident in Book of hindu religious book Ramanayan where Laxman the younger brother of Ram draw a line to keep away evil coming close to Sita.
Mr Swadesh Kapoor was chemical graduate invented his own formula for laxmanrekhaa chalk. Chalk includes cypermethrin 1.0%. The chalk comes with instruction to draw 2-3 thick parallel lines around dustbins, drain holes, lofts, cabins etc, which are frequently visit by cockroaches.
