Maurice Maschmeyer
[edit]Maurice Maschmeyer is a venture capitalist and former automotive designer. He joined BAM Ventures, a Los Angeles-based early-stage venture capital firm focused on consumer and consumer technology startups. Maschmeyer is also a member of the Kauffman Fellows Program, Class 25.
Early Life and Education
[edit]Maschmeyer earned a Bachelor of Science in Transportation Design from the ArtCenter College of Design in Pasadena, California. He later completed a Master of Science in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the USC Marshall School of Business. He also holds professional certifications from Harvard Business School.
Career
[edit]Automotive Design
[edit]Maschmeyer began his career in automotive design, working with several global automotive manufacturers, including Ferrari, Porsche, and General Motors. He also created the "Maserati Ernesto 975" concept car, a hybrid supercar featured in GQ Italia for its distinctive design.[1] His work focused on exterior vehicle design and commercialization strategy, blending aesthetic innovation with go-to-market planning.
Venture Capital
[edit]In 2020, Maschmeyer joined BAM Ventures. The firm, co-founded by entrepreneur Brian Lee, has invested in companies such as Honey, Scopely, Thrive Market, and Pretty Litter.[2] At BAM, Maschmeyer plays a key role in evaluating product and brand development for early-stage consumer startups.
In addition to his work at BAM, Maschmeyer independently invests as an angel in early-stage technology companies, including multiple businesses that have reached billion-dollar valuations.
Thought Leadership and Mentorship
[edit]Maschmeyer has served as a mentor for several startup accelerators and venture programs, including Techstars, Snap’s Yellow Accelerator, and GSV Ventures. He has judged national pitch competitions such as USC’s Demo Day, the Boost VC VC Perspective on Fundraising series, and the Frye Pitch competition hosted by the Alliance for SoCal Innovation.
He is also co-chair of the YoungVC Initiative at the Los Angeles Venture Association (LAVA), a program supporting emerging venture capitalists and first-time fund managers.[3]
Honors and Affiliations
[edit]Maschmeyer was selected to the Kauffman Fellows Program in 2020, an international leadership network for venture capital professionals with an acceptance rate under 10%.[4]
