McMillan Pazdan Smith is an architecture, planning, and interior design firm that has been practicing since 1955 and has multiple studios across the Southeastern United States, including in Atlanta, Asheville, Augusta, Charleston, Charlotte, Columbia, Greenville and Spartanburg.[1]

Notable Projects

  • Montgomery Building (Spartanburg, South Carolina) – The firm led the restoration of the historic Montgomery Building in Spartanburg, South Carolina. The project received awards such as the 2020 Gignilliat Preservation Award and the 2021 Palladio Award for Commercial Adaptive Reuse.[3]
  • Lee III Hall of Clemson University – A design team for Lee III was established, managed by McMillan Pazdan Smith Architecture in association with lead design architects Thomas Phifer and Partners from New York City.[4]
  • MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital - McMillan Pazdan Smith in association with Perkins&Will designed this nationally ranked, freestanding acute care women's and children's hospital in Charleston, South Carolina.[6]
  • Fifth Third Park – The firm served as the architect of record for Fifth Third Park, a minor league baseball stadium in Spartanburg, South Carolina, which opened in 2025.[7]

In 2024, McMillan Pazdan Smith was awarded the AIA South Carolina Firm Award, recognizing excellence in design and public service.[8]

In 2022, McMillan Pazdan Smith won The Premier Award for Client Satisfaction from PSMJ, an award that honors architecture and engineering firms that deliver a truly exceptional client experience.[9]

ENR named McMillan Pazdan Smith Southeast Design Firm of the Year in 2020.[10]
