Early Life and Cricket Career
[edit]Md. Rakin Muhtasim Rafe. At the age of just 11, he started his cricket journey for the Thakurgaon U-13 district team with a storm of speed. Even in 2024, he has taken that storm of speed to faraway New York. He has also mastered mercurial batting. Along with the storm of speed, this fast-bowling all-rounder knows how to break the morale of the bowlers with devastating batting. He has played for numerous teams in his long career. He has countless achievements. Which started in 2007 by taking the field for the Bangladesh U-15 national team against the India U-15 national team. There, his teammate was the current Bangladesh national team wicketkeeper batsman Litton Kumar Das. In that series, he took 20 wickets in 5 matches with a storm of speed, and also played a fifty-run innings. Bangladesh won that series by a margin of 4-1. Where Md. Rakin Muhtasim Rafe's all-round performance was remarkable. Then in 2008, he got the opportunity to get admitted to BKSP by showing the achievement of bowling the hardest. In BKSP, he got the wicket-keeper batsman Litton Kumar Das, the wicket-keeper batsman of the Bangladesh national cricket team, as his batchmate and roommate. After being admitted to BKSP, he got the opportunity to play a series against India for the Bangladesh Under-15 team for the second time through his performance. Rafe's all-round performance of 4 wickets in bowling and 53 runs in batting is also behind making BKSP the Bangladesh champion in school cricket. He has experience of playing many international tournaments for BKSP and has many Man of the Match awards in his portfolio. He has also played for the Bangladesh Under-17 and Under-19 national teams. Gradually, he has also honed his batting. He has received the Man of the Match award in many matches of the Dhaka League. He was also the Man of the Final in the U-Lab Fair Play Tournament and the highest wicket-taker in the All India U-17 Tournament. Daraz received the Best Batsman award for the Bangladesh team. He was also in the BCB's pace camp due to his fast pace. He has played in the Dhaka First Division Cricket League for a long time. In 2013, this Md. Rakin Mohtasin Rafe won the BKSP's Best Player award. In 2014, he received the Best All-Rounder award from the BCB due to his incredible performance against the India U-17 team. In 2017, for his excellent performance last year, he signed a three-year contract with Dhanmondi Roy's Athletics Club for a huge fee. He was a hot cake for any team due to his fast bowling and striking batting. This all-rounder, who completed his graduation from U-Lab University, has also served his university for a long time. He made U-Lab University the champion in many tournaments. Then he entered corporate cricket and left his signature as an all-rounder there too. He won many matches for Daraz Bangladesh Limited. In the 2017 LMS tournament held in Malaysia, his team Bengal Ty K became the champion. Md. Rakin Muhtasim Rafe also served as a trainer for Mohammedan Cricket Club in the Mymensingh Premier League for two years. After winning corporate tournaments in Bangladesh, he moved to New York, USA. Even in New York, Rafe continues to leave a testimony of his ticket talent. He played for Beanibazar Youngster Cricket Club in the New York Bangladesh Cricket League of USA T20 and ODI cricket tournaments. Through his friends Litton Kumar Das and Ifti, he was introduced to Mr. Sahanul Karim, the captain and owner of Beanibazar Youngster Cricket Club located in New York. He gave Rafe the opportunity to play in his team. In the first match, he won the heart of Beanibazar team captain plus owner Sahanul Karim by playing a stormy innings of 68 runs in 33 balls. Rafe's batting partner in this 68-run innings was former Bangladesh national team opener Junaid Siddiqui. In a star-studded tournament like NYBCL where many players of the Bangladesh national cricket team such as Nasir Hossain, Ilyas Sunny, Arifur Rahman, Shubh and many more participated, this big hitter Rafe was able to establish his name in this tournament very quickly due to his power hitting ability. He also batted brilliantly in the 100-ball tournament for the BRONX team where his teammate was Trinidad's star batsman Sachin. The opponent team was Hemraj, who played CPL for Guyana. Rafe scored 34* runs in the first round of the 100-ball tournament for the BRONX Cricket Club in 14 balls. 40* runs in the semi-finals. He scored 22 runs in 7 balls in the final match. BRONX Cricket Club became the runner-up in this tournament. Within a very short time of joining Beanibazar Youngster Cricket Club, Rafe has established himself as an indispensable member of the team. He has played some beautiful innings whose strike rate is enviable. In this era of T20 cricket, any team would want to take this all-rounder, who is 5 feet 11 inches tall and has a slim body, a very strong big hitter. Along with playing cricket, Rafe was also focused on his studies. He graduated from U Lab University and did his post-graduation from Daffodil University. Who knew that this cricketer, who started cricket from the stadium in Thakurgaon, would also prove his talent on the cricket field of New York in the distant United States? Cricket is Rafe's first love, considering Jacques Kallis as his role model. Md. Rakin Muhtasim Rafe, a BKSP batchmate and close friend of Bangladesh national team wicketkeeper batsman Litton Kumar Das, seems to have a touch of the Caribbean monster batting style in his batting.
