Michael William Burt (23 August 1938 – 18 October 2014)[1] was an English musician. He was most known for being the drummer of the English pop duo, Chas and Dave. Earlier in his career, he was in a British rhythm and blues known as Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers, which is where he met Chas Hodges and Dave Peacock, who were other members of the band.[2]
Personal life
[edit]Burt had a son who is called Tony Burt, who went on tour with his dad's iconic yellow drum kit.[3]
Career
[edit]Burt started his career as drummer of Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers in 1961 which is where he met Chas Hodges and Dave Peacock. He was drummer until 1968, the year the band was disbanded. In 1976,[4] Burt joined Chas and Dave where he performed many hit singles such as Rabbit and Ain't No Pleasing You. He performed with Chas and Dave until his retirement in 2009.[4]
Illness and death
[edit]On the 18th October 2014, died after a fight with dementia and Parkinson's disease.[3]
