Early Life and Musical Beginnings
[edit]Ariel Ba-ac Halad was born on March 9, 1999, in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, Philippines. He is the eldest of seven siblings and was raised by his grandparents. From a young age, he showed a strong interest in music, arts, and martial arts.
At age seven, he learned to play the piano, followed by the guitar in third grade, initially taught by his uncle. However, after his uncle moved abroad, Ariel turned to self-learning, improving his English skills by reading the Merriam-Webster Dictionary.
By fifth grade, Ariel began writing poetry and lyrics, which led to his interest in music production. He discovered and mastered Logic Pro 9, composing his first eight tracks under the name Colours City, drawing inspiration from Adam Young (Owl City) but he never made it to publish elsewhere.
During high school, he continued honing his musical abilities. In Grade 9, he learned to play the drums, adding to his growing skill set as a multi-instrumentalist. Around this time, his uncle returned home and allowed him to use his electric guitars, amplifiers, and gadgets, which further fueled his passion for music. Eventually, he started working on demo recordings, leading to the creation of My Space, his solo music project. It became his first success to show throughout the whole world.
In 2019, he began uploading his demo tracks to SoundCloud, a platform known for independent musicians, after initially composing his demos in 2018.
Career
[edit]He officially launched his music career with the release of his debut album, "Many Stars Collided On My Summer Sky," which featured 17 tracks. The album was released on March 9, 2019, on SoundCloud, coinciding with his 20th birthday. The album gained significant attention, receiving positive feedback and praise from listeners. Following its success, he released a remixed track, "Gauzy Tree (Ariel Relíent Yøung Remix)", under the alias Ariel Relíent Yøung, a name he used for remixing selected tracks from his albums. The remix was originally an unreleased track but was revised to fit the album version.
On his 21st birthday, March 9, 2020, Ariel released his second album, "The Billions Between Us," which contained 15 tracks. The album was well-received by his growing audience, further solidifying his place as an independent artist. Following this release, he dropped another remix, "Cloverfield Daydream (Ariel Relíent Yøung Remix)", which, like his previous remix, was initially an original track but later reworked as part of the album. The remix drew more attention to the original track, making it one of his most listened-to songs.
Ariel continued producing music while pursuing higher education. In 2024, he released the first installment of a conceptual album series, "Seasons: Chapter I." This was followed by the upcoming release of "Seasons: Chapter II", which he had been working on during his college years.
