The Network for Evaluation of Propagation and Interference Training (NEPIT)[1] is a European doctoral network funded under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) of the Horizon Europe program. Coordinated by Prof. Frank Leferink at the University of Twente, NEPIT focuses on training early-stage researchers in the field of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and interference propagation within complex electronic systems.
The project addresses the growing challenges posed by electromagnetic interference (EMI) in modern society due to the increasing use of communication systems, automation, and interconnected electronics. NEPIT aims to bridge gaps between disciplines—such as deterministic and statistical modelling, EMC and EM propagation, and wireless communication and interference studies—and to foster collaboration between academic and industrial sectors.
NEPIT hosts 10 doctoral candidates across five academic institutions and one industrial beneficiary[2]. The consortium includes partners from the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, and Italy, as well as associated industrial organizations from several European countries and Japan.
Consortium
[edit]The project includes the following beneficiaries and associated partners:[3]
Beneficiaries
- University of Twente (Netherlands) - Coordinator
- Otto-von- Guericke-Universitaet Magdeburg (Germany)
- Wrocław University of Science and Technology (Poland)
- Università Politecnica delle Marche (Italy)
- Eindhoven University of Technology (Netherlands)
- Lumiloop (Germany) - Industrial Beneficiary
Associated Partners

Doctoral Candidates
[edit]The NEPIT project hosts ten doctoral candidates, each conducting individual research projects related to electromagnetic propagation and interference[4]. These projects are distributed among the academic and industrial beneficiaries of the consortium and are designed to provide both theoretical training and practical application through interdisciplinary collaboration.
The research topics include:
- Complex field distributions in semi-enclosed environments
- Coupling of EM fields into and out of electrically large high-tech systems
- Novel and in-situ test methods of dense high-tech systems
Through their work, the doctoral candidates contribute to both the scientific and societal objectives of NEPIT, including the development of new methodologies and their transfer to industry.
The following doctoral candidates are part of the NEPIT network:[5]
- DC01: Ioannis Margaritis (University of Twente)
- DC02: Veyis Solak (University of Twente)
- DC03: Francesco Pio Cecca (Otto-von- Guericke-Universitaet Magdeburg)
- DC04: Satanika Lowe (Otto-von- Guericke-Universitaet Magdeburg)
- DC05: Muhammad Kamran Safdar (Wrocław University of Science and Technology)
- DC06: Jawad Ali (Università Politecnica delle Marche)
- DC07: Paola Tili (Università Politecnica delle Marche)
- DC08: To Be Recruited (Otto-von- Guericke-Universitaet Magdeburg)
- DC09: Eyob Mersha Woldamanuel (Eindhoven University of Technology)
- DC10: Muhammad Ubaid Imtiaz (Eindhoven University of Technology)
