Comment: Cinder painter, I've now removed most references to oncord.com. Those that remain are [6][7] which are used in the History section to cite announcements made by Oncord. If this is an inappropriate use of a primary source, those two history entries can be removed. [11][12] Also reference Oncord as a primary source for basic business/pricing model information. Oncord (formerly Synergy 8) is an Australian SaaS platform that combines web hosting, a content-management system (CMS), customer-relationship management, email & SMS marketing, and e-commerce in a single cloud product. The software is developed and operated by Oncord Pty Ltd, a privately-held company based in Brisbane. Small and midsize organisations use the platform as an “all-in-one” alternative to point solutions such as WordPress.[1]
History
[edit]- 2006 – Scott McNaught incorporated Synergy Eight Pty Ltd in Queensland.[2]
- 2016 – The firm secured two competitive Advance Queensland grants: AU $250,000 from the Ignite Ideas Fund and AU $37,167 from the Knowledge-Transfer Partnership program.[3]
- 2020 – Following Adobe’s announcement that Business Catalyst would reach end-of-life in 2021, the company named Oncord as one of a select group of “Recommended Migration Partners”, positioning the platform as an officially sanctioned destination for former BC sites.[4]
- January 2020 – Synergy 8 rebranded to Oncord.[5]
- March 2020 – Oncord announced “USA cloud hosting infrastructure” and said it had “finalised a new North American server environment” for clients in the United States, Canada, parts of Europe and the UK.[6]
- October 2023 – Oncord announced its “third hosting cluster … in Coventry, United Kingdom”[7]
- 2024 - Estimated annual revenue at about US$1 million, with 11–15 employees.[8]
Platform
[edit]Oncord is delivered as a multi-tenant cloud service. Key features include:[1][9][10]
- Website builder / CMS: Drag-and-drop editing & source code.
- CRM & Marketing Automation: Contact segmentation, email and SMS campaigns, events management.
- E-commerce suite: Catalogue, shopping cart, payment gateway and accounting software integrations.
Business model
[edit]Oncord is delivered on a subscription-based software-as-a-service model. The website and CMS features form the base subscription, with marketing and commerce features being opt-in for an additional monthly cost.[11][10]
Alongside direct subscriptions, Oncord operates a partner programme for web design and marketing agencies. Approved agencies can provision and manage multiple client sites from a central “agency portal”, and earn recurring commissions.[12]
Known integrations
[edit]Accounting and bookkeeping
[edit]- Xero – Two-way synchronisation of contacts, invoices and payments; listed in the Xero App Store.[13]
- Intuit QuickBooks Online – Syncs sales and contact data and can create invoices automatically; available via the QuickBooks App Store.[14]
- MYOB AccountRight – Pushes invoices and contact records two-way; listed in the MYOB App Marketplace.[15]
Payment gateways
[edit]- Afterpay – Buy-now-pay-later checkout supported via Afterpay’s platform listing.[16]
- eWay – Direct card processing through eWay; Oncord appears in eWay’s “Add-Ons” directory.[17]
- Pinch Payments – Enables one-off and recurring card/direct-debit payments for Oncord invoices; listed among Pinch’s ecosystem partners.[18]
- Stripe – Verified partner in the Stripe Partner Ecosystem.[19]
CRM and business apps
[edit]- Zoho CRM – Two-way contact sync and marketing automation; documented on Oncord’s Zoho integration page.[20]
Vertical-industry platforms
[edit]- Mindbody – Synchronises client records between Oncord and Mindbody; integration announced in the October 2023 product update.[20]
- Cliniko – Shares patient contact data to enable targeted e-mail/SMS campaigns; listed as a connected app in Cliniko’s marketplace.[21]
- Simpro – Lets Simpro users trigger marketing campaigns and capture web-form leads; profile in Simpro’s partner directory.[22]
Adoption and reception
[edit]A 2020 feature article in the education magazine Le français dans le monde described Oncord as «un outil de gestion marketing global, pointu et extrêmement performant» (“a comprehensive, advanced and extremely high-performance marketing tool”) that helped the Alliance française Hong Kong expand its online cultural activities during the COVID-19 period.[23]
An Oncord-hosted training webinar for the Alliance Française network in December 2020 drew more than 70 staff from branches in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Canada and China.[24][25]
Australian IT provider FortiTech migrated its own site from Business Catalyst to Oncord, citing local hosting and the integrated marketing stack as advantages.[26]
Market-share tracker WhatCMS estimated in March 2025 that Oncord powered roughly 0.002% of public websites worldwide.[27]
Startup-ecosystem publication Seedtable list the firm among Brisbane’s leading startups, noting its revenue growth without external funding.[28]
Review aggregators Capterra and G2 list average ratings of 4.9–5 / 5 for the software, though sample sizes remain small (fewer than 20 reviews).[1][29]
Funding and grants
[edit]Oncord is a bootstrapped company and has not taken any external investment as of 2025.
Public funding consists of the two 2016 Advance Queensland grants totalling AU $287,167, earmarked for commercialising its digital-marketing software.[3]
